Sparks flew at the GSMA mobile telephony conference in Barcelona, Spain, as members of the LiMo and Android consortiums demonstrated their products and announced new developments. Digital Downloading at Heart of Borders’ Splashy New Concept Stores
It’s not exactly Amazon.com’s business model, but Borders Group appears to be at least borrowing a page from the Web-based book and music retailer by offering digital downloads. Borders, the second-largest book retailer in the U.S., on Wednesday, announced it is opening the first of 14 new concept stores that it will launch this year as part of a restructuring plan it revealed in 2007.

Is Yahoo Flirting With News Corp. to Make Microsoft Jealous?
Yahoo has held talks with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. about a partnership, merger or similar arrangement, according to reports. Such a deal would help fend off Microsoft’s unsolicited $44.6 billion bid to take over the portal and create an Internet force capable of rivaling Google. News Corp. would offer significant benefit to Yahoo, most notably in the form of the MySpace social networking site.
