Microsoft is creating a new group within its Search unit to focus on commercial search, according to a note to UK-based journalists on August 21.

Building Windows, not walls
I don’t care who Microsoft ad agency Crispin Porter puts in the starring role along with Chairman Bill Gates in its $300+ million campaign. But I am intrigued about what kind of messaging Crispin and Microsoft think will reinvigorate Vista’s image and make Microsoft less of an Apple chump.

Six surprising things about Microsoft’s PhotoSynth
PhotoSynth, Microsoft’s photo-stitching technology from the company’s Live Labs division, is out of beta and is now a version 1.0 shipping product. If I had to choose the six things that most surprised/impressed me about PhotoSynth, this would be my list.
